A recognized specialist in marketing to the Young and Affluent of Canada, Newad innovates yet again with the launch of its newest iPhone application, NIGHTLIFE MONTREAL. Developed by the team of NIGHTLIFE.CA in collaboration with the Société de Transport de Montréal (STM), this free iPhone app gives access to a cultural activity calendar. It instantly updates users about hotspots in the city, latest promotions and over 6000 nightlife establishments. Deciding what to do, where to go, and how to get there is just a screen touch away.
"Today’s young adults choose where to spend their nights out at the last minute," says Martine Desjardins, publisher at NIGHTLIFE.CA. "Our editorial purpose is to continually scour the city for what’s new and what’s hot and share that with Montrealers. With this app we’ll be doing it in real-time and including public transit information that quickly gets you from where you are to Montreal’s hot events.” she adds.
Designed with ease of use in mind, the app pinpoints restaurants and bars by category while highlighting the best picks, “Tops”, as determined by the NIGHTLIFE.CA team. It also includes current entertainment acts or special events with a built in geo-location function to display venue proximity in relation to the user’s current location.
"In addition to our magazine and website NIGHTLIFE.CA, this application is the complementary platform to reach the Young and Affluent in a natural way, by giving them the information they seek exactly when they want it!" asserts Martine Desjardins.
According to Michael Reha, President and CEO of Newad, "We have developed a thorough understanding of urban life in Canada and it is this very expertise we want to share with both Montrealers and those visiting Montréal.”
A part of its "Society in Motion" campaign, the STM worked closely with Newad to integrate preferred public transit routes when heading out for a night on the town. By geo-locating over 6000 establishments in the city, and syncing them with transit maps and available service, the app quickly gives users the fastest way to get to a chosen location by subway or bus, and also, the time at which the next transit vehicle will pass at the two closest stops.
"It is important for the STM to both create and promote free tools allowing transit users to easily plan their trips." says Pierre Bourbonnière, Director of Marketing for STM. “We believe that public transit is not only the ‘green’ alternative, but also a sustainable development project for Montreal as a whole, and a way to enhance the quality of life for all citizens.” he concludes.
In the coming weeks, the STM and Newad will synergistically leverage their existing advertising platforms to promote the application to the general public. Additionally, a 15-second video will be showcased on both websites as well as on Newad’s Digital boards in Montreal, "ideal channels for the promotion of this campaign and many applications," adds Michael Reha.
The STM, Montreal’s Public Transit Company, is at the heart of economic development for the Montreal area and seeks to contribute towards a better quality of life for all citizens through a commitment to sustainable development. The STM is focused on continually developing and operating an integrated customer network and always providing reliable, rapid, safe and comfortable transit options. The corporation’s employees, customers and commercial partners are proud of their association with the STM, because it is known for always delivering quality services at a reasonable price. www.stm.info
