National visual arts contest Art Here unveils the 16 winners of its 8th edition

Tuesday, April 25th, 2017 — Art Here announced today the names of the 16 winners of the eighth edition of its national visual arts contest. This year’s winners were selected from among 814 artists who submitted 1120 illustrations, photographs, paintings, sculptures, and digital artworks.

In early march, an independent jury shortlisted 35 works of art from which the Canadian public was then invited to vote. Over 1125 votes were tallied and the 16 artworks with the most votes have been designated as winners, now posted on arthere.ca.

The 2016 Art Here winners are: Caroline St-Pierre (QC), Sébastien Larochelle (QC), Zihan Yuan (ON), Laura Rendon (QC), Alison Postma (ON), Stephanie Heendrickxen(QC), Brandon Barcena (AB), Léa Baudhuin (QC), Graeme Haunholter (AB), Shawn Vandekerkhove (BC), Gregory Mallet (QC), Matthew Lee (BC), Marianne Leblanc (QC), Amélie Girard (QC), Ariane Parent (QC) and Alexy Préfontaine (QC).

Art Here is a philanthropic initiative by Newad, a Canadian indoor advertising company with networks in all of the major Canadian cities. Images of the winning works of art will be displayed through Newad’s national advertising network throughout the year.

 “We’re very proud to provide exposure for Canadian visual artists again this year. Thanks to Art Here contest, 16 winners will see their work broadcasted across Canada, but 814 others also had the chance to be published the arthere.ca portal all year. Art Here proves each year the potential of our artists here in Canada and Newad is very happy to showcase them in its networks”, said Martine Desjardins, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Communications and Content, Newad.

Art Here 2017: The contest is open!
Launched in 2009, the Art Here is an annual contest that rewards artists who submit artwork through its free platform at arthere.ca. The 2017 edition is open to artists, who have until December 31, 2017, to submit their illustrations, photographs, paintings, sculptures and digital artworks. Since the contest began, 3,740 artists have submitted 5,482 images via the free uploading and viewing platform.
