Newad announces an increase in its indoor digital advertising investment and sells its Web properties to Oboxmedia

Montreal, November 20, 2015 - Newad CEO Michael Reha announced today that the company will be focusing its investments and talent to support the growing demands of Canada’s digital advertising sector. The announcement is part of a strategic plan initiated in the spring during Newad’s acquisition of the majority of Zoom Media’s Canadian assets.

“Our vision is simple: We want to offer advertisers the best indoor advertising solutions in Canada,” said Michael Reha. “Newad has the privilege of being at the forefront of digital advertising, a field of innovation that has been stable and showing robust growth for five years. For advertisers seeking to reach affluent adults in major Canadian cities, our digital platforms represent both an efficient and essential investment,” he continued. “The rate of return in digital advertising is often higher than that in traditional media. That’s why we’re accelerating our expansion and adding new resources that will help us strengthen our positioning, establish standards, and stay at the top,” he added.

As a result of this strategic plan, Newad is selling its Newad OnLine network and its websites, which include NIGHTLIFE.CA,, 33mag, Ton Barbier, 10 kilos, Ton petit look and TPL Moms, to the Montreal company Oboxmedia. Employees of the Web content team will pursue their activities at Oboxmedia. Digital production specialists will stay on at Newad and be tasked with the mission of developing innovative solutions to enable advertisers to reap the full benefits of digital advertising, a field in which Newad expects to act as a front-runner in the coming months.

“We’re very proud to have contributed to developing these Web properties and we know they’re in good hands. We acquired NIGHTLIFE.CA nearly 15 years ago when it was a print magazine. We converted it into the ultimate guide to urban life and culture, generating more than 700,000 sessions per month. We bought the websites 33mag and TPL in 2011 and have since created the website Ton Barbier and developed, together with the Stratis twins, the website TPL Moms. We have created quality, prestigious, and highly frequented properties. It was therefore important for us to choose a team that would be able to preserve the spirit and the mission of these websites in Quebec. We firmly believe that Oboxmedia will succeed in continuing to develop and grow these websites, and we’d like to highlight the exceptional contributions made by the employees and collaborators joining them,” said Martine Desjardins, Executive Vice-President, Publishing and Content.

Over the next few months, Newad will be announcing new initiatives to expand its offer in the Canadian market. We would like to reiterate that in June of 2015, Newad acquired the majority Zoom Media’s advertising networks in Canada.
